I wish I had the know how
I don't call myself a genius. I don't tell people I'm smart. I don'tbrag about myIQ test scores. I don't do crosswords and word puzzles so that others will think that I am smart. In fact I wouldn't even go so far to say that I am of high intelligence. But I wouldn't say I'm stupid either. And I would hope that there are not many people out there who would call me stupid. But today I paid a man 300NTD ($13.00CDN) to do just that.
Last week my fridge stopped working. I'm not sure when, but by the time I figured it out all the meat in my freezer was soft. I threw out a lot of food since I had gone shopping just a few days before. We called the company and they sent a repair man this morning before noon. He walked into my house. He opened the door to my fridge. He removed a panel at the back. He flicked a switch. He replaced the panel. He charged me 300NTD. I felt so stupid.
Sadly, this isn't the first time this has happened. About 2.5 years ago the water pressure in my kitchen was really low. Adrian and I did all we could to get the pressure back but it was all for naught. We called the plumber. He came into the house. He turned on the water. He turned off the water. He unscrewed the little filter on the end of the tap. He banged it against my sink to dislodge the filtered out pebbles and sediment. He screwed it back on. He turned on the water with pressure restored. He charged us 200NTD.
Neither incident upset me, since it is wholly a matter of me not knowing better. if either problem occurs in the future I will know what to do. But to the past experiences I will consider them lessons well learned.

It doesn't really change anything, it's just a different browser. You can install it, and if you don't like it, just go back to using IE.
You will find, though, that there's some websites out there which have been coded only for IE, which is notoriously careless about code. Things which shouldn't look hunky-dory look ok in IE but weird in Firefox (your blog and my personal website being two examples).
So you might not like it, until people start coding "properly". I sound like an elitist.
Sigh.
